COLOMBO (News 1st); Venerable Omalpe Sobhitha Thero says that the Government is preparing for an election due to pressure from India. Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thero noted that the Government's plan on holding the Provincial Council elections at the moment is questionable. While adding that the economy cannot sustain an election in its current state, it can be understood that the Government is currently providing over 100 billion to the representatives of Provincial Councils, the Venerable Thero said. " We can clearly see that they are strategically positioning themselves for an election. It is evident that this is due to influence from the Indian Government.
