COLOMBO (News 1st); Two people who were suspected to have sold dogs for meat were arrested in Wadduwa.

The two suspects, a man, and a woman were found with at least five puppies tied to a cart near the Wadduwa Railway Station just two days ago.

The arrests were made based on a tip-off received by the police on Sunday (10).

Last month, News 1st exposed a dog-napping saga involving the same suspects in Colombo.

Our report showed how animal rights activists had rescued 13 dogs from the duo.

The activists said they would find homes that would care for them.

According to the Wadduwa Police OIC, the duo was arrested over charges of abducting K9 and selling them for meat.

However, the question remains "If these dogs were sold for meat, so who did they sell it to?

Wadduwa Police OIC said investigations are underway.
