New details emerge on 14-year-old's murder

COLOMBO (News 1st); In a new development on the investigations surrounding the murder of a 14-year-old girl from Dambulla, an eye-witness had provided evidence stating that he witnessed the main perpetrator taking away the victim.

On Monday (11), The Judicial Medical Officer of the Dambulla Base Hospital recorded evidence from the witnesses.

The post-mortem is expected to take place at the Dambulla Base Hospital on Tuesday (12).

Sri Lanka Police deployed three police teams to locate and arrest the suspects responsible for the murder, identified as a husband and wife.

Investigations have revealed that the suspects have been changing houses over a prolonged period.

The lifeless body of the 14-year-old girl was found on the bed of an abandoned house in Dambulla on Saturday (09).

According to Police, she was taken away by a person known to her, in order to tutor a child in the neighborhood.

However, as she did not return home, he parents had immediately alerted the police.

Local residents assisting in the search raised an alarm over an abandoned house and following an inspection by police, the body of the girl was found.
