Abolish 20th amendment: Ranil

COLOMBO (News 1st); The former Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe says that the 20th amendment should be abolished, and the country should be governed under the 19th amendment once again. Speaking to media today (10), Wickremesinghe pointed out reports of the President admitting that he has limited political experience, therefore requesting the Prime Minister and other Ministers with political experience to come forth to work collectively. " That's a good statement. Because he has admitted that the 20th amendment is a failure. We lost the cabinet constitution due to that amendment." the former Prime Minister said. He further stated that there were Governments within this Government for the economy. Adding that this also influenced the price of rice, he said that the result of this move was the complete loss of the home-based economy, which proves that this method garners no result. " Therefore, as the President stated, it is better to go for a traditional cabinet administration, and to abolish the 20th amendment," he added.
