Pointing out that the situation is so dire that teachers are being insulted for their profession by politicians and regional authorities alike, Jayasinghe said that their proposals have already been put forward, yet are not regarded.
Stating that the union had been present for every single meeting held with authorities, he said that the teachers have much more concern and regard for the children of the country, than politicians ever will.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna suggested that the teachers may keep their professional dignity and stop the ongoing protests.
During a press conference held today (8), SLPP MP Tissa Kuttiarachchi appealed for teachers to not to betray the future of the nation for Rs.5000, Rs.7000, Rs.10,000 or even Rs.12000.
