COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Former Consumer Affairs Authority Chief Thushan Gunawardena claims that Undu, Dhal, and Milk Powder were also released in the manner in which garlic was released from the state bodies.

Gunawardena was at the Criminal Investigations Department on Friday (8) to provide a statement over his expose' on the #GarlicScam.

He told reporters that he stepped down from the Consumer Affairs Authority as he could no longer be a part of a system that supports scams.

"These issues arose ever since people like Bandula Gunawardena came in. They are wrong to assume that we would work according to their needs," he said.

Gunawardena also warned that the government will have to withdraw more gazettes in the coming days as a sequel to removing control prices on several items.

'There is no use of the Consumer Affairs Authority. It is better to shut it down, as it would save the government more money," he said.
