COLOMBO (News 1st); Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, Northern and Southern provinces, the Meteorological Department says.
According to the forecast issued by the department, heavy showers of up to 50 mm are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in some places in the Galle and Matara Districts today (06).
Moreover, showers or thundershowers are also expected at several places during the evening or night.
The public has been kindly requested to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers posed by temporary strong winds and lightning along with thunder showers.
Meanwhile, the highest rainfall of 109.5 mm was recorded in the Battaramulla area during the last 24 hours ending at 6.15 a.m. this morning.
The Meteorological Department said that the Trincomalee area received 106.9 mm of rainfall.
Meanwhile, landslide warnings issued for several Divisional Secretariats in six Districts, by the NBRO are still in effect.
