COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government must allow for an impartial investigation to take place into the information uncovered via the Pandora Papers, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says.
In a previous statement, the Opposition Leader has highlighted the importance of conducting an impartial inquiry into the disclosures through a Special Committee of Inquiry vested with all powers.
Pointing out that the public is not naïve, the Opposition Leader says that the connections between the political establishment and the business elite should not become a hindrance to the investigations conducted.
“The only path to justice for criminals is to first remove criminals in the Government,” he says.
Premadasa adds that the public should accept that their leaders have been using secret tax havens to hide their ill-gotten and significant wealth.
