COLOMBO (News 1st): The Secretary to the Ministry of Education Prof. Kapila Perera says that grades 1-5 of schools with less than 200 students will re-open soon.
The Secretary to the Ministry stated that all the Provincial Governors have confirmed with the Minister that it is possible to re-open all schools with less than 200 students.
Prof. Kapila Perera also said that a physical inspection will be carried out at schools, from today onwards to ascertain whether the school is in a position to re-open.
The Additional Secretary (School Affairs) of the Ministry, L.M.D. Dharmasena said that school staff has been requested to take steps to renovate the classrooms.
He further said that a pediatrician has been appointed to cover all the areas of school reopenings and the relevant pediatrician will be involved in assessing the health of the children in the schools in the respective areas.
