Get vaccinated without delay - Dr. Hemantha Herath

COLOMBO (News 1st) The Ministry of Health has requested people to get vaccinated without delay, as the vaccination program may be limited in the future.

Deputy Director-General of Public Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath said the mobile vaccination programme carried out at present, may not be available in the future.

He said instead, the vaccination drive will be conducted at a limited number of vaccination centres, adding that the authorities are unsure as to how long this process would last.

Dr. Herath said "Discussions are already underway about the possibility of administering a booster shot to those who are fully vaccinated within one year. If we are to start administering the booster shot then we will not have time to spend administering the first and second doses anymore."

Thereby, he urged the people to get vaccinated as soon as possible upon considering all these factors.
