Protest turns into heated confrontation with Police; Two Traders Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st): Two people, including the President of the United National Self-Employed Businessmen's Association, Charles Pradeep were arrested on Sunday (19) afternoon for protesting in Colombo.

They were arrested while conducting a protest opposite the Colombo Fort Railway Station against the directive to open liquor stores.

Fort police arrested the duo for violating the provisions of the Quarantine Regulations.

Charles alleged during a press conference on 17th September that the Government had taken action to open liquor stores at the behest of politicians.
