Hand Grenade stolen from Late Ministerial residence - Police

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Crimes Division has revealed that the Hand Grenade discovered from a washroom at a private hospital in Colombo recently, was stolen from the residence of a Former Minister.

The residence from where the grenade was stolen was searched by the detective upon interrogating the suspects, however, the residence is now occupied by a different Minister.

It is reported that the Ex-Minister who used to occupy the residence, had passed away recently.

The Colombo Crimes Division said the the suspect was escorted to a house in Mahawa, where 15 training bullets, 05 bullets for a 09mm pistol, and 10 bullets for a revolver were found found buried in the rear garden.

The ammunition was transported to the Mahawa house by the second suspect arrested over the incident.

Both suspects are being held under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for interrogation.
