COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) Oshadha Senanayake says that the construction of communication towers covering areas without 4G facilities is currently being carried out successfully. It is being implemented under the "Gamata Sanniwedanayak" Project, he stated. He also mentioned that the construction of 37 communication towers in the Ratnapura District which does not have 4G facilities is expected to be completed by next month. This measure is expected to mitigate the issue of accessing the existing 4G facilities in the Ratnapura District. In addition, 47 communication towers in the Kurunegala District and 23 towers in the Matara District are currently under construction, he added. Moreover, a technical study is being carried out in the Anuradhapura, Kandy, Badulla and Kegalle Districts to identify areas without 4G facilities and construct communication towers. He added that the provision of 4G facilities to the entire island under the relevant Project will be completed soon.
