COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Criminal Investigations Department may record a statement from Former Attorney General Dappula De Livera with regard to his 'Grand Conspiracy' comment on the Easter Sunday Attacks, said Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd).

'After retiring, the AG is a normal citizen. We have taken into consideration the comment he made. If there is a need to follow up on that by the Criminal Investigations Department, necessary measures will be taken,' he added.

In response to comments made His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the head of the Catholic Church, the Defence Secretary said he was disappointed over those comments and stressed it would be wise if one were to make comments after by analyzing the truth.

'The suicide bombers carried out the attacks. Sri Lanka Police made great efforts to trace those who planned the attacks. Hudreds were arrested and are being prosecuted. However, there is no benchmark to claim that this is the level that can be done to prove a crime. If we miss a point, the entire case can turn upside down,' he told reporters.
