Four arrested for stealing steel pipes off Peliyagoda Expressway

COLOMBO (News 1st): Four suspects have been arrested for stealing steel pipes for the construction of the new Kelani Bridge project on the Peliyagoda Expressway. According to the Police Media Spokesperson, the value of the steel pipes stolen by the suspects is Rs. 1,615,000. The suspect involved in the incident was arrested and interrogated according to a complaint lodged with the Peliyagoda Police yesterday (03) The suspects, aged 31, 35, 50 and 66, have been identified as residents of Weligama, Hikkaduwa, Dematagoda and Deniyaya areas. The suspects are to be produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate's Court today (04). The Peliyagoda Police are conducting further investigations.
