Wimal urges teachers to accept Cabinet solution on solving salary anomaly

COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister Wimal Weerawansa urged the Teachers and Principals to accept the solution presented by the Cabinet Sub-Committee to eliminate the teacher-principal salary anomaly.

The Minister said this during a press conference convened by the members of the Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed to eliminate the teacher-principal salary anomaly, at the Government Information Department today (01).

Minister Weerawansa said that many problems that had been neglected for a long time had been resolved and urged teachers to accept this solution,.

The Minister also noted that the proposal to award Rs. 5,000/- for two months was not a proposal by the Sub-Committee but a collective decision taken by the entire Cabinet.

Minister Weerawansa also requested the teachers and principals to come forward to work for the betterment of the children of the country without further delaying this issue.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera who was present at the media briefing added that 85% of the Government revenue goes to pay salaries and pensions to public servants.

He further said that this allowance will have to be paid taking into consideration the economic status of the country.
