COLOMBO (News 1st) An Elephant named Surangi from Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, has given birth two baby elephants.

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in its Facebook page said that ‘Both calves are male’.

The first calf is born at 4 am and the second calf after 10 am.

This is the first semi-domesticated twin elephant birth in the history of Sri Lanka, it added.

They said that this is a historic elephant birth from the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

In 2020, Sri Lanka for the first time recorded the birth of twin elephant calves in the country’s Minneriya National Park.
