COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Customs has collected Rs. 9.02 billion as import duty during the seven days of non-quarantine from the 14th to the 20th of August and during the seven days from 21 until 27 August, Sri Lanka Customs has collected Rs. 7.45 billion as import duty, Sudaththa Silva, the Customs Media Spokesperson says.
He further stated that Sri Lanka Customs has been able to maintain its normal operations during the curfew period, which came into effect on 21 August.
A release from Sri Lanka Customs says that the Sri Lanka Customs Export Facilities Center was maintained 24 hours a day and all exports by Sri Lankan ships were approved without any delay. Sri Lanka Customs also took steps to release all essential food items, medicines and medical equipment imported for domestic consumption to the local market expeditiously.
