900 COVID-19 infected persons have died at home - Report

COLOMBO (News 1st): The percentage of persons over the age of 60 who die from COVID-19 continues to rise.

According to data released by the Epidemiology Unit, the percentage was 77.4% in the week that ended 20 August.

Moreover, the number of COVID-19 infected who have died in their homes has risen to 900 by 20 August.

During the last week from 20 August, 155 COVID-19 infected persons have died at home.

The total number of deaths on admission to the hospital was 427. Out of this number, 65 people have died last week alone.

Meanwhile, 722 persons who took only one dose of the vaccine have died while 137 people who have received both doses of the vaccine have died.

According to the Epidemiology Unit, 74 people have died after obtaining both doses in the last week alone.
