UNICEF commends vaccination program

COLOMBO (News 1st): The UNICEF has commended the vaccination program being carried out in Sri Lanka, during a meeting with the newly appointed Minister of Health, Keheliya Rambukwella. The UNICED also made a donation of a consignment of equipment to the Sri Lankan healthcare system in collaboration with Japan through the COVAX program. The Japanese Government has donated US $ 16.2 million to the Sri Lankan health sector last year alone and will continue to make the maximum possible contribution to Sri Lanka's healthcare system, said Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Akira Sugiyama. The Ambassador said that Japan has been supporting the upliftment of the health service in the country for a long time and that it is currently providing the highest level of support during the ongoing situation.
