Four vaccines under evaluation for children between 03 and 12 - Dr. Kithulwatte

COLOMBO (News 1st): Dr. Nalin Kithulwatte, the Consultant paediatric intensivist at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital says that four vaccines are under evaluation approved to be administered to children below 12 years.

Accordingly, the vaccines Moderna, Pfizer, Sinopharm and Sinovac are under evaluation to be administered to children below 12.

Dr. Kithulwatte further stated that the relevant date of administration of the vaccine for children above 12 years will be determined according to the available consignments that Sri Lanka will receive and following the evaluation.

Moreover, he said that diseased children will be considered the vulnerable group to be vaccinated first.

The date of vaccination of children between the ages 3 and 12 will also be discussed and determined later, he added.
