COLOMBO(News 1st):  The General Secretary of the JVP, Tilvin Silva says that the Government has let the people down on the promises it made on prosecution of the masterminds behind the Easter Sunday Attacks. " A large number of promises were made to the people of this country that all those involved in the Easter attack will be sought, punished and that justice will be served. Therefore, the current Government used the people's fear and took power by using this fear. People voted for this Government to ensure that such an attack would not happen again," " But what we are seeing now is that this is gradually being erased from history .The Government is gradually forgetting its duty. Even if the commission appointed by the former President Maithripala Sirisena had its shortcomings, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa could have appointed a new commission to look into this. Or at least there are some things in that commission report that still have the potential to be implemented, and he could have implemented these recommendations," "But that is not what happened. The problem is that now that they have come to power, these investigations are being carried out in a hurry or they have been taken on different roads, used for different purposes. At the moment, there is a suspicion among the people affected by this incident and among the religious leaders in the Catholic community that this Government is not conducting proper investigations into the Easter Sunday Attack. This naturally leads to others making connections between the mastermind behind the entire incident and the current Government." He said.
