COLOMBO (News 1st); The top brass of Sri Lanka Police called on the Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter on Thursday (19) to highlight injustice caused to police officers through the investigations that took place on the Terror Attacks of April 21st, 2019.
SSP Sisila Kumara Herath told reporters that the situation is such that police officers who were on duty during the terror attacks are being made accountable.
'We are here to appeal from the Mahanayake Thero to prevent any injustice being caused to us police officers because this affects us in the long run," he said.
Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon said the then Government or the Defence Ministry had not given any clear instruction to police officers with regard to intelligence material.
Police Officers are not connected to the attacks and they are being targetted simply because they were on duty at the time, he told the Mahanayaka Thero.
'When such investigations take place against a police officer, it affects their retirement and their pension,' he added.
He requested the Mahanayaka Thero to apprise the relevant places on their concerns.
