Lack of interest to expose Easter Attacks

COLOMBO (News 1st); Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando alleged the government does not seem interested in exposing the hidden truth behind the 2019 April 21st Attacks.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday (19), Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said a proper transparent investigations is yet to be witnessed over the attacks that took place 02 years ago.

'We were patient for two years. We have been appealing for a proper investigations. But that does not appear to be happening,' he said.

It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that justice is served, he said adding since the attacks took place during the tenure of the former government, the incumbent administration must have the urge to expose the truth.

'We cannot understand why they are dragging the process and why some aspects are being concealed,' he said adding that no one in government appears to have the need to comment on the recommendations of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry.

He said the church reserved the right to know how those recommendations are going to be implemented and who will implement them.

Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said the investigations lack transparency and the government shows no honest intention to prosecute those responsible for the attacks.
