SL to purchase more Sinopharm & Pfizer doses to vaccinate over 18 population

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Cabinet of Ministers decided to purchase 09 million doses of Sinopharm and 14 million 

doses of Pfizer at the unit price decided by the Negotiating Committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers for the vaccine requirements.

This is in order to vaccinate all individuals over the age of 18 by the 30th of September 2021, in order to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of 09th August 2021 the country has been received 19.49 million doses of vaccines.

11.26 million doses were used as the first dose and 3.25 million doses were used as the second dose out of that consignment.
