COLOMBO (News 1st): Any pregnant or lactating mothers who have not yet received any vaccine should be vaccinated immediately, Devika Kodithuwakku, President of the Government Family Health Service Officers' Association says.

Meanwhile, the Government Family Health Service Officers' Association emphasized that it is unwise to call pregnant mothers to routine vaccination centers.

Its chairperson, Devika Kodithuwakku points out that pregnant mothers should have separate days or several hours for vaccination at vaccination centers.

Although priority is given to expectant mothers at routine vaccination centers, pregnant women are at higher risk of contracting the virus because of the crowds, she added.
