COLOMBO (News 1st): The Disaster Management Centre has issued an alert for fairly heavy showers today (12).

The alert reads that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in Galle and Matara Districts today (12). Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm can also be expected in these areas.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
