COLOMBO (News 1st); The Police is taking additional steps to ensure that order is kept due to the expected congestion caused by public servants, who are summoned to work from today (02) onwards, Police Spokesperson SDIG Ajith Rohana says.
The Police Spokesperson further stated that all regional officials, including officers in charge of territories, have been instructed to inform subordinates to act accordingly.
Moreover, SDIG Ajith Rohana said that roadblocks, which are implemented in between Provinces, can be crossed by public servants and essential service workers. However, the situation with regard to public transportation will be monitored by the Police, he added.
The Police Spokesperson emphasized that all those who are involved in public transportation, including the drivers, conductors and passengers are expected to abide by quarantine regulations and wear face masks and maintain social distance, as all those who travel has a responsibility and a liability to the public transport service.
