COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police launched an investigation over the death of a 27-year-old army soldier at the Namal Thalawa Forest in Inginiyagala on Wednesday (28) night.
Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said 03 people had entered the forest to poach for animals when a shooting had taken place.
A 36-year-old male from Inginiyagala was arrested for committing murder along with a muzzle-loading gun.
According to the statement, the suspect had noted that he witnessed the deer moving inside the forest and therefore he fired at the deer and later understood that he had shot at the army soldier, who suffered serious injuries.
