COLOMBO (News1st): The central bank has printed 213.48 billion rupees on Tuesday, central bank data show, the highest amount to be printed by the country so far this year. The money had been printed a day after Sri Lanka settled a USD 1 billion bond payment. But Ajith Nivard Cabraal, the state minister of Money & Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms, had told the AlJazeera news outlet that the country's economy is stable. "Our rupee has been stable for the past three months, our interest rates have been the same for the past three months," he said adding that the turnover at the stock exchange is also increasing almost daily. "What more do you need to have as indicators of economic stability?" he queried.
