COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police have introduced a new hotline at the Colombo Emergency Centre to provide information regarding child labour cases where underage children are employed as domestic aides. Sri Lanka Police launched a special operation in the Colombo city and suburbs on Tuesday (Jul. 27) to trace the offenders in respect of children under the age of 16-years being employed as domestic aides in the Western province. "It was observed that underage children had been brought to Colombo from the Central Province for child labour and therefore we are conducting this operation. If you have any information about children in respect of child labour, provide such information to Colombo Emergency Centre, via 011 2 433 333," Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.
