Police says probe not influenced & unbiased

Statements recorded from 35 people over death of 16-year-old Ishalini

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said statements were recorded from 35 people with regard to the death of 16-year-old Jude Kumar Ishalini at the residence of Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

Several police teams were deployed to investigate the incident, said Sri Lanka Police adding that the wife and father-in-law of the Ex-Minister, as well as a broker, were arrested over the incident while the brother-in-law of the Ex-Minister was arrested for a separate rape incident said to have taken place at the same premises.

Sri Lanka Police stressed that it is conducting investigations in an impartial manner and the investigations have not been subjected to any form of influence.

Sri Lanka Police added that it would continue to report facts to the court and would take all measures to bring the perpetrators before the law.
