COLOMBO (News1st): Three members of the Expert Advisory Panel for COVID-19 vaccines have resigned yesterday. The resignation comes as National Medicines Regulatory Authority granted approval for the Sinovac vaccine.
Immunologist Dr. Rajiva de Silva, virologist Dr. Kanthi Nanayakkara and respiratory physician Prof. Channa Ranasinghe have resigned from the Expert Advisory Panel for COVID-19 vaccines.
The experts had resigned after the National Medicines Regulatory Authority had overruled their disapproval over the Chinese Sinovac jab.
Reports suggest that the Expert Advisory Panel for COVID-19 vaccines had agreed that the Sinovac jab is the least effective vaccine against the Delta variant.
According to these reports, documents had also stated that a booster would also be required after six months of getting Sinovac’s two doses.
