Delta variant has possibly spread to more areas; Dr. Hemantha Herath

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan health authorities have warned that the Delta COVID variant has probably spread to many areas in the country.

Deputy Director-General of Public Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath speaking to News 1st said another 19 COVID-19 patients were detected with the Delta variant.

These cases were from the Colombo, Kilinochchi, and Jaffna Districts.

'The detection of these cases means that the Delta variant has spread to other areas,' said Dr. Hemantha Herath.

He urged the general public to continue to follow the health guidelines in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
