Delayed action over Tissamaharama wewa project

COLOMBO (News1st): Permission of the Department of Archaeology was not sought before the dredging of the historic Thissamaharama Wewa began. No action was taken against this breach of legal procedures in the country. No action has also been taken against those who were spotted at the site of this project clad in a uniform similar to that of the Chinese military. When there is so much opposition against this project conducted with foreign irrigation Scientists, why are hasty steps being taken to continue the project? The wewa is not the property of any one person but the heritage of the entire nation. Do not lay your hands on these historic sites of archaeological importance.
