COLOMBO (News 1st); 04 suspects remanded over the Mount Lavinia Child Sex Scandal were enlarged on strict bail conditions by Colombo Additional Magistrate Lochana Abeywickrama on Friday (09).
The suspects are the Deputy Chairman of the Mihinthale Pradeshiya Sabha, a Specialist Doctor, and two millionaire businessmen.
They were among the 34 people arrested by Sri Lanka Police over the exploitation of a 15-year-old girl.
The Additional Magistrate warned the suspects to refrain from interfering with the investigation and the witnesses.
They were enlarged on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000/- and 08 personal bails of Rs. 2.5 Mn each.
In addition, the victim had positively identified the four suspects who were produced in an identification parade on Friday (09).
Considering the request made by the counsel appearing for the suspects, the Additional Magistrate had noted that there it is not necessary to further remand the suspects as detectives had informed the court that the investigations against the four suspects were completed.
The case will be called up again on the 19th of August.
