PM virtually inaugurates work on Maritime Facilitation Centre

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday (02) virtually kicked off the construction of the Maritime Facilitation Centre in Colombo and declared open the Kapuduwa Interchange on the Southern Expressway and the Gatambe Underpass in Peradeniya.

The three projects were implemented according to the President’s Vision of Prosperity policy of building the country under the theme ‘Kapuduwa Interchange on the Southern Expressway ’.

The cost of the Maritime Facility Center is Rs. 5 billion. It is expected to be completed in two years.

The cost of the Kapuduwa Interchange Center was Rs. 445 million.

The underpass in front of the Peradeniya Hospital was constructed at Rs. 127 million.

'The people would have to face greater issues if the government adopted a negative approach towards various activities in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic,' said Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
