Moving towards organic fertilizer, a timely requirement; Prime Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says that focusing on organic farming for a healthy generation has become an urgent need and it is important to create a systematic program for this purpose.

The Prime Minister stressed on the matter at a meeting with experts on Organic Cultivations and Organic Fertilizer held at Temple Trees on Friday (18).

He had also highlighted the need for a systematic program to educate the farming community as a misconception on the initiative has spread among farmers.

Officials were instructed to take a decision in consultation with the relevant Ministries to launch a program to introduce children and the people to organic farming centering on schools and temples.
