Sri Lanka to pay Rs. 5 Bn for scrapped LRT project

COLOMBO (News 1st); It is revealed that although the present government has decided to scrap the light rail project which was implemented by the previous government under a Japanese concessional loan, a sum of Rs. 5,896 million has to be paid for consultancy services.

This is revealed in the report prepared by the Auditor General on the financial statements of the government for 2020 which was published in the Annual Report of the Ministry of Finance.

The Auditor-General has revealed that Rs. 5,896 million has to be paid for the consultancy services of the light rail project.

However, the Auditor General has revealed in his report that this amount was not included in the government's financial statements for 2020.
