Police hunt for April Attacks extortionists

COLOMBO (News 1st); Detectives have launched an investigation over an extortion ring based on the 2019 April 21st Attacks.

Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said a group is reported to be making phone calls to various individuals demanding money to suspend investigations against them over the 2019 April 21st Attacks.

'The extortionists are impersonating senior police officers and are making calls to fixed lines to threaten and intimidate people," he said adding over 50 complaints were received in this regard.
