Contact tracing underway after Delta Variant detected from Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's State Intelligence Service and the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Minister launched an investigation following the detection of the Delta COVID-19 variant from Dematagoda, Colombo.

State Minister of Production, Supply, and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Professor Channa Jayasumana told News 1st that the close contacts of the COVID-19 patients are being traced.

The Director-General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena said of the 05 COVID-19 patients detected with the Delta variant, 03 have recovered.

"The other 02 patients are being treated separately and their families are subjected to PCR tests," he said.
