COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Consumer Affairs Authority has said it cannot permit to increase gas prices as requested by Laugfs Gas & Litro Gas, said Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, a member of the Cabinet Sub Committee appointed to reach decisions regarding gas price revisions on Wednesday (16).
'Laugfs Gas has requested to increase the price by Rs. 700/- while Litro Gas has requested to increase the price by Rs. 670/-. But the CAA has said it cannot be permitted,' said the Minister.
However, there is an opinion that the price should be increased by Rs. 400/-, he said adding that the committee is exploring the other avenues rather than resorting to a price increase.
