All Economic Centres open this weekend (12 & 13)

COLOMBO (News 1st): All Economic Centres across the island will be open today (Jun. 12) and on Sunday (13), for wholesale trade activities, the State Ministry of Agriculture said. Accordingly, the Special Economic Centres in Dambulla, Nuwara Eliya, Narahenpita, Ratmalana, Piliyandala, Welisara, Veyangoda, Thambuttegama, Meegoda, Kappetipola, and Nawalapitiya will remain open in adherence to COVID-19 health guidelines. Although the Economic Centres are open for wholesale trade activities, those who are engaged in essential services and mobile vendors are permitted to purchase goods from the Economic Centres by using their permits, the State Ministry of Agriculture further noted. According to the State Ministry of Agriculture, a decision will be reached on opening Economic Centres for usual operations once, the Ministry receives official confirmation on the relaxation of the Travel Restrictions.
