COLOMBO (News 1st): The showery condition over Southwestern part of the island is likely to temporarily enhance both today and tomorrow (08 and 09), the Department of Meteorology said in its weather forecast for Tuesday (Jun. 08).
Showers are likely at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Nuwara-Eliya, and Kandy districts.
Heavy falls exceeding 100 mm could be expected at some places in the Galle, Matara, Kaluthara, and Ratnapura districts.
Fairly heavy falls of above 75 mm are likely at some places in the North-Western province and in the Colombo, Gampaha, Kegalle, Nuwara-Eliya, and Kandy districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Mannar district.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Uva and Eastern provinces during the evening hours or tonight.
Wind speed can increase up to (30-40) kmph at times in the Western slope of the Central hills, Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces and in Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, the Met Department further noted.
