Police to crackdown on fake news posted on social media

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Criminal Investigations Department has launched an investigation against individuals who create, post, and share fake posts on social media.

Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said a special CID was appointed to monitor cyberspace and trace those who commit the offense of spreading fake news, adding that strict legal action will be instituted against such individuals. DIG Ajith Rohana elaborated:
