COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka should be prepared if the producers of the COVID-19 vaccines decide to say that one dose of the vaccine is sufficient for a person, said State Minister of Production, Supply, and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals, Professor Channa Jayasumana.

"It is the expert committee that decided to include the consent for one dose only, in the content document given to all vaccine receivers," he told a media briefing in Colombo on Tuesday (02).

He stressed that the recommendation of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority for the Russian-made Sputnik Vaccine is that a person must receive both doses of the vaccine.

He went on to note the consent is obtained for the first dose, and when the second dose arrives, it too will be administered.
