Navy divers to investigate suspected leak in X-PRESS PEARL

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Navy said it deployed 09 of its divers to investigate a suspected water leak in the stern area of the blazing MV X-PRESS PEARL container ship.

Navy Spokesperson Captain Indika De Silva speaking to News 1st said the fire onboard the ill-fated vessel was somewhat completely contained, however, it is believed the engine rooms in the stern are flooded and thus a tilt to the rear was observed.

The salvors are expected to take the necessary measures to addressed the issue.
