Ven. Baddegama Samitha Thero bids adieu

COLOMBO (News1st): Former Parliamentarian and former representative of the Southern Provincial Council Venerable Baddegama Samitha thero passed away this morning while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Matara. The venerable thero who was 68 years of age at the time of his demise had been admitted to hospital after contracting COVID-19. Although he had been discharged the thero had been admitted to hospital once again after experiencing respiratory difficulties. Venerable Baddegama Samitha thero, who was an active member of the Sri Lanka Sama Samaja Party, was the first bhikku to enter Parliament. He was a notable figure in Sri Lanka's political sphere.
