COLOMBO (News 1st); Some 76,000 electricity consumers are left in the dark after uprooted trees fell onto transmission cables due to gale force winds.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy Sulakshana Jayawardena speaking to News 1st said the electricity supply was disrupted to consumers in Dambulla, Kurunegala, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Horana, Ingiriya, Balangoda, and Kuliyapitiya.
As gale winds are experienced across many areas, there could be more reports of electricity disruptions and special teams are working on restoring the supply of electricity, he added.
