COLOMBO (News 1st) Thousands of Sri Lankans took to the streets on Tuesday (25) to gather essential items from stores after travel restrictions were lifted at 04 AM.
The travel restrictions will be re-imposed at 11 PM on Tuesday, as the government imposes strict measures to control the spread of COVID-19.
According to reports, there were long queues outside markets and stores in multiple areas in the Colombo District.
Despite the morning rain, many were seen carrying large bags of goods as the government on Monday (24) prohibited people from traveling in vehicles to purchase goods.
